Senior Estimator – Main Contractor – Cork

AA Euro Group have been retained to recruit a Senior Estimator, who will based in our client`s head office in Co. Cork to be responsible for the production of estimates for a range of projects.
Ideal candidate will have experience working with a main contractor in the construction industry.
The role will include management of relationships with designers, project managers and with client teams and suppliers.

The Role:

• Ensure all tender documents are received, organized, and shared with relevant team members.
• Prepare and issue subcontract and material enquiries, including defining scope of works and attendance schedules where applicable.
• Track and follow up on tender returns, maintaining an up-to-date enquiry schedule.
• Work with the tender team to raise, document, and resolve any tender-related queries.
• Identify gaps in tender documentation and compile necessary clarifications and estimator notes.
• Develop and maintain a risk schedule and opportunity assessment to support decision-making.
• Establish a value engineering schedule to explore cost-saving measures and efficiencies.
• Conduct thorough analysis of tenders and pricing received from the supply chain to ensure accuracy and competitiveness.
• Prepare clear net cost reports for tender settlements, highlighting key risks and opportunities.
• Compile and finalize the full tender submission, including the Form of Tender, Bills of Quantities, and all relevant commercial documentation

Requirements:

• A degree in Quantity Surveying / Construction Management.
• Good knowledge of general construction contracts, relevant legislation and standards
• 7+ years estimating experience in infrastructure with a recognised Main Contractor
• The ability to work independently and to manage inputs from a range of specialist suppliers and in-house staff
• Good interpersonal and team-working skills
• Be results oriented
• Have the ability to work under pressure
• Good computer skills, especially Microsoft Excel and Word, and ideally some experience of Microsoft Project and an estimating software system.
