July Monthly Roundup 2022
July Monthly Roundup – In a month of extreme temperatures, many industries are feeling the heat in their pursuit of talent. For instance, the UK construction sector reportedly requires 250,000 more employees by 2026 to cater to growing demand.
Consequently, our recruitment teams remain extremely busy. While we continue to recruit heavily in Ireland and the UK, more and more roles are opening up in European nations such as Germany, Poland, Denmark, and Switzerland.
This month, we have witnessed particularly heavy demand for staff in both construction and engineering.
Without further ado, here is our July Monthly Roundup.
July Monthly Roundup
The Latest from Europe
AA Euro’s unique offering is a vast European reach. We hold offices in several European countries and thus, have on-the-ground knowledge of what’s happening across the continent.
Here’s some of the latest news coming out of Europe.
Hazardous Heatwaves
Outdoor industries such as construction were met with a very difficult challenge this month in the form of extreme heat.
The record-breaking temperatures of the recent heatwaves have not only slowed the progress of construction projects across Europe but, more worryingly created dangerous working conditions.
The significant health risks such as sunstroke and skin cancer that are associated with these weather conditions, and the general consensus that extreme heatwaves will become more frequent, raises the question of what can be done to mitigate such situations. After all, the health and wellbeing of workers should always be the number one priority.
One suggestion that is currently being pushed for is the setting of maximum working temperatures.
Navigating Labour Shortages
A common theme in the construction sector recently has been the labour supply struggling to keep up with the surge in activity.
The fallout of the Covid-19 pandemic has paved the way for a massive rise in major construction projects. Through the €750 billion Covid Recovery Fund, the EU has commissioned a whole host of major infrastructure projects.
However, these plans could face significant disruption if a solution to the current labour shortages is not found.
At AA Euro, we can help find the staff you need. Check out our Client Services for more information.
Croatia to Join the Eurozone
Croatia has been given the green light to officially join the Eurozone on 1 January 2023.
European Commissioner for Trade, Valdis Dombrovskis has said that adopting the euro will bring “tangible economic benefits” for Croatia.
Croatia’s approval comes after the country successfully met all of the requested criteria; price and exchange rate stability, healthy state finances, and reasonable long-term interest rates.
AA Euro has an office in Zagreb, Croatia, and you can reach our Croatia recruitment team at croatia@aaeuro.com.
