Meet the Recruitment Expert: Éanna O’Brien
As part of our monthly activities, we would like to offer you the chance to meet a recruitment expert from our valued team. This month we would like to introduce you to Éanna O’Brien, a passionate and enthusiastic member of the team.
ÉANNA O’BRIEN, RECRUITMENT EXPERT
I began my role in January 2019 as a Recruitment Resourcer. I had never worked in recruitment before and was very keen to see what all the fuss was about!
My favourite part about the job is when you place a top-quality candidate into a new role. It’s a massive change in that person’s life, and I like the idea of being the person who arranged it and set them on their new path to success.
Before Euro Executive, I had just graduated from college and was working at Cork Airport for a car hire company. I was there around 7 months when I saw Euro Executive had an ad online for a Recruitment Resourcer. I met Denis and Ian a couple of times and they impressed me from the get-go about employee progression and the fact there is a career to be had in recruitment.
I started off knowing nothing at all about construction or recruitment. People would be talking about ‘white-collar’ and ‘blue-collar’ and I was there wearing a grey shirt thinking I wouldn’t last long in the business. But after a few days of excellent coaching and guidance from my senior colleagues, I learned the basics and developed my skill set from there.
In essence, I started from the bottom of the recruitment ladder and quickly discovered a knack of being able to chat to candidates and getting all the information I need to make things happen for them in their job search.
My current role in Euro Executive is as a Recruitment Expert. I work mainly in the European Data Centre sector, with particular focus on Mechanical and Electrical roles.
Passions
I have been a Liverpool fan all my life, but I also play golf (some days are okay, others are better left unmentioned). I watch and follow most sports (including the NBA and NFL in the US), and go to watch a good few rugby games too. I once went as far as Bruff for a match. I love the idea of travelling around the globe, but also don’t want to leave Cork.
Skills/Education
I have a BA in Arts from UCC, majoring in History and also studying psychology.
Ambition
Buy a house, take it from there. Keep it simple.
