Course Description

This is a 1-day MEWP course (scissor lift and boom lift) designed for both novice operators and experienced operators renewing their training.

 

Course Programme

Module 1: Health and Safety regulations
Module 2: Work at Height
Module 3: Harness & Lanyard for MEWP’s
Module 4: MEWP’s – Mobile Elevating Work Platforms
Module 5: Main Duties of MEWP Operator
Module 6: Spotter Safety Awareness

 

Course Objectives

On completion of this course, participants will:

• Have a clear understanding of legal requirements associated with ‘Work at Height’
• Be a competent and safe MEWP operator which will assist in reducing the risk of injury to operators and others
• Be familiar with MEWP operating controls
• Be able to use safe operating techniques
• Be able to recharge battery powered MEWPS and refuel diesel powered MEWPS safely
• Understand the Hazards and Risks associated with the use of MEWPs in the place of work
• Be able to inspect, fit and use safety harness appropriately
• Be competent in the duties of a spotter/safety watch
• Be able to leave a MEWP in a safe condition when not in use

Course Participants

The course is suitable for anyone utilising a MEWP as part of their work duties in various industries.

 

Duration

1 day, registration at 8.15am, start time 8.30am until 4pm

 

Training Methodology

The course is a mixture of classroom-based theory training and practical training with full body harnesses and MEWP’s, the coursed is instructor led.

 

Assessment

The theory element of the course includes a multiple-choice assessment and the practical assessment includes harness inspection, fitting and use and operation of both scissor lift and boom lift

 

Certification

On completing of both the theory and practical element of the course successfully, trainees with receive an AA Euro Training certificate which is valid for three years
