Senior Quantity Surveyor

AA Euro Group are currently seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading main contractor delivering large scale residential and commercial projects across Dublin. You will have a direct reporting line to the Quantity Surveying Director and will primarily focus on supervising the financial aspects of construction projects, with a goal of efficient cost management and maximizing profitability.
The key activities
- Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates, budgets, and tender documentation for commercial projects.
- Conduct thorough quantity take-offs and cost planning to ensure accurate project costing.
- Coordinate and oversee the procurement process, including subcontractor and supplier selection, negotiation of contracts, and adherence to procurement policies.
- Administer and manage construction contracts, reviewing terms and conditions, assessing variations and claims, and ensuring contractual compliance.
- Monitor project costs, analyze expenditure, and implement effective cost control measures to ensure projects are delivered within budget.
- Collaborate closely with the design and construction teams to identify value engineering opportunities and propose cost-effective alternatives.
- Provide guidance and support to junior quantity surveyors and other team members, fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and suppliers to ensure effective communication and resolution of any commercial issues.
- Keep on top of industry trends and changes in regulations.
The Qualification
Degree qualification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Surveying
The person
- Ideally 5+ years Commercial experience working for a main contractor with detailed Building & Fitout Knowledge and experience with various types of contract forms
- Strong commercial awareness and excellent client liaison skills
- Extensive understanding of the civil engineering infrastructure industry
- Flexibility and have a talent for negotiation
- Ability to adapt, multitask and work on own initiative as well as part of a team
- Flexibility with the ability to prioritise work effectively
- Ability to work well under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines
- Positive attitude and a willingness to learn
- In-depth knowledge of construction contracts, procurement processes, and cost management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and a proactive approach to managing project finances.
- Eligible to work in Ireland
- Full EU Driving License
