Project Director

We are currently seeking an experienced Project Director to join a leading international main contractor specialising in the delivery of hyperscale data centres and critical infrastructure projects across Europe.

This is a senior leadership position based full-time on a live hyperscale data centre project in Amsterdam, overseeing the successful delivery of a large-scale mission critical development for a global technology client.

The successful candidate will take full responsibility for project execution from construction through commissioning and handover, leading multidisciplinary teams to deliver the project safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the overall delivery of a hyperscale data centre project from construction through to client handover.
• Manage all project operations including:
• oConstruction delivery
• oCommercial performance
• oProgramme management
• oClient relationships
• oHealth & safety
• oQuality assurance
• oCommissioning coordination
• Provide strategic leadership to site management, engineering, commercial, and project delivery teams.
• Ensure all project milestones and key deliverables are achieved in line with programme requirements.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and key stakeholders.
• Oversee project budgets, forecasting, procurement strategy, and commercial risk management.
• Drive a high-performance culture focused on safety, quality, collaboration, and accountability.
• Lead progress meetings, executive reporting, and stakeholder presentations.
• Support pre-construction and future project planning activities where required.
• Ensure compliance with all company procedures, contractual obligations, and local regulations.
• Manage commissioning strategy and successful integration of mission critical systems.

Requirements

• Proven experience operating as a Project Director, Project Lead, or Senior Project Manager on large-scale construction projects.
• Strong background working for a main contractor delivering:
• oHyperscale data centres
• oMission critical facilities
• oPharmaceutical projects
• oSemiconductor facilities
• oLarge-scale industrial or critical infrastructure developments
• Demonstrated experience managing complex multidisciplinary teams on high-value projects.
• Excellent commercial and contractual awareness.
• Strong understanding of:
• MEP coordination
• CSA delivery
• Commissioning processes
• Fast-track construction methodologies
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams within a live project environment.
• Relevant degree qualification in Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline preferred.

Desirable Experience

• Previous experience delivering hyperscale data centre projects in Europe.
• Familiarity with Tier III / Tier IV data centre environments.
• Strong commissioning and client handover experience.
• Experience working with international project teams.
• Knowledge of BIM-led project delivery.
